Tilbury Karting 666m track - Essex

Tilbury is not the usual kind of arrive and drive circuit and could benefit from some upkeep but is still worth visiting. The track requires a good range of skills for its fast and slow corners (and avoiding some surface cracks!)

Back

Turn 1

Pretty quick here but nothing very difficult. Lift off the accelerator slightly before you reach the corner and take a standard apex, then back on and drift to the outside of the track and alongside the pits.

Turns 2 and 3

Turn 2 is a little tricker, you're braking point is on the right hand side just where the pit exit is so awareness is key. Stay a little wide and make a late apex so that you can almost straightline through turn 3.

Turn 4

A standard apex but taken at speed, full throttle may be possible here but a safer option is to lift just before and try to get some weight on the front wheels. Drift to the right on the exit.

Turn 5

Quite hard on the brakes so that you can clip the middle of the apex and then stay to the left on the exit

Turn 6

Pretty quick right hander, nothing difficult but very important to get right so that you can carry maximum speed down the straight.

Turn 7

This is the start of the esses and could take some practice to get right. Be careful not to brake too late here and treat the entry as normal. On exit though, don't go mental on the throttle as you want to keep in the middle of the track for the next part.

Turn 8

No braking here, just make the corner as straight as possible and aim for the left side of the track on exit. You can use some kerbing here but don't take all of it or you'll be all over the place and probable facing in the right direction before you know it.

Turn 9

Be smooth here both in line and throttle, as soon as you pass the apex full throttle takes you back up the start/finish straight.
